The new District Commissioner’s Office in Jorhat marks an important transition in the district’s administrative history, replacing the former red-brick colonial-era office constructed by the British in 1914. For more than 112 years, the historic building served as a key centre of district administration, witnessing generations of political, social and institutional change. The opening of the new integrated office at Cinnamara reflects the move from a century-old administrative setup to a modern facility designed to meet the present and future requirements of the district. The occasion also holds special significance for District Commissioner Shri Jay Shivani, who became the last DC to serve from the historic Ronga Bhawan before taking charge from the new complex. While the former building no longer functions as the DC office, its heritage and memories continue to remain an important part of Jorhat’s history.

The audio installation at the Office of the District Commissioner Jorhat was planned to meet the communication needs of its conference hall and seminar hall, where speech clarity, organised discussions and reliable system performance are important for everyday administrative activities. The system had to support official meetings, presentations, seminars and delegate interactions while providing consistent sound across the listening areas. To achieve this, Allied Consulting Services, Guwahati, Assam carried out the installation and system integration with a focus on balanced coverage, practical control and ease of operation for regular users. The system incorporates a range of BA solutions, including the VS 106T high-performance speakers and VE 105TC full-range ceiling speakers for clear and evenly distributed sound. The Contract 270 mixer amplifier and StudioMix 12.6 analogue mixing desk provide amplification and flexible source management, while the BCS Cam Control Server forms the core of the digital conference system. The BCS 1C Chairman Conference Unit and BCS 1D Delegate Conference Units enable structured communication during meetings and discussions. Together, the system provides a dependable and well-integrated audio solution for the conference and seminar facilities at the Office of the District Commissioner Jorhat.

Jorhat is an important city in Assam and serves as the administrative headquarters of Jorhat district. Around 300 km east of Dispur, the city is also known for the historic Jorhat Gymkhana Club and its golf course, recognised as one of the oldest in Asia. The new Integrated District Commissioner’s Office complex at Cinnamara brings several key government departments together within a modern administrative facility. For visitors, Jorhat Airport is approximately 6 km from the office, with an estimated travel time of around 15–20 min by road. Jorhat Town Railway Station is approximately 4 km away, taking around 10–15 min by road, depending on the route and traffic conditions.
