J.N.M. HOSPITAL Kalyani, West Bengal. Project : Auditorium Brands : OHM, British Acoustics   About the Client : J.N.M. Hospital & College of Medicine, is a government medical college and tertiary referral hospital under the West Bengal University of Health Sciences in Kalyani, West Bengal. The college is recognised by the Medical Council of India for MBBS and postgraduate medical degrees in selected subjects. The college was founded in 2009, and is quickly becoming one of the premier medical institutions in the region. The College and the Hospital are located in same campus of 76.3 acres of land. The Hospital has 450 teaching beds with extra admissions in all departments due to heavy rush of patients.   CHALLENGES OF THE INSTALL : The sprawling 76-acre J.N.M. Hospital opened doors to a brand new 1200 seater auditorium earlier this year. The auditorium was to be used for executive & cultural purposes alike. The 1200 seater auditorium was spread across three floors with a 300 seater upper balcony. The auditorium has a large ceiling height – 10m, spans nearly 21m wide. The brief given while commissioning the auditorium was that the auditorium must be tuned for a wide sweet spot, with even coverage front to back. Speech Intelligibility was paramount as eminent personalities were to grace the auditorium stage with their presentations & seminars.   ABOUT THE SYSTEM : This system was deployed by hanging the OHM TRS 212 – Dual 12” Mid-High Cabinet on the FOH positions. The TRS 212 is known for its superior sonic print even at High SPL levels. The TRS 212 was supplemented by the Radial 25 Front Fill speakers and the 8” VS-8’s on fills duty. The new British Acoustics ETA 318S, self-powered long excursion subwoofers were placed within the stage for low frequency extension. A further 4 VS-8’s were added as under balcony fills, while 4 x ETA 315M were handed the Stage Monitoring duty. The install was summed by the Q-350i amplifiers powering VS-4 speakers for Control Room, Green Rooms and other supporting areas. The entire installation was tuned on a British Acoustics Delta Drive – 2in 8out Digital DSP while being powered by the standard “TK Series” amplifiers. “We were able to achieve a great sonic performance & better distribution while having plenty of headroom”.
